Choosing a power bank only by its mAh rating is a common mistake. Two 20,000 mAh models can behave very differently depending on USB-C output, port layout, weight and compatibility with the devices you want to charge.
The first thing to check is usable capacity. mAh gives a rough idea, but Wh is more practical for comparison and travel. A 20,000 mAh power bank is often around 74 Wh depending on internal voltage, which usually stays within common cabin baggage limits. Exact airline rules still need to be checked before flying.
USB-C wattage matters as much as capacity
For a phone, 20 to 30 W is often enough. For a tablet or handheld console, 30 to 45 W is more comfortable. For a USB-C laptop, look for at least 45 W, and sometimes 65 W, 100 W or more depending on the machine.
Also read the wattage per port. Some batteries advertise a high total output but reduce one port sharply when a second device is plugged in.
The best size is the one you will actually carry
A small power bank is easier to carry every day. A larger one can help while travelling, but it often stays in a bag. The right purchase is the one that matches your real use, not necessarily the largest capacity on the label.
