Heavy heat at home: why humidity changes everything

When a room feels heavy, temperature is not always the only issue. Humidity also affects comfort. A warm and humid room can feel harder to tolerate than a room at the same temperature with drier air.

A dehumidifier does not replace an air conditioner: it does not directly cool the air. However, it can make some rooms more comfortable when humidity is high, especially in a bedroom, bathroom, basement or poorly ventilated room.

What to check before buying

Before buying, look at extraction capacity in litres per day, room size, noise level, laundry mode, continuous drainage and maintenance. For a bedroom, noise matters as much as capacity. For a basement or wet room, drainage and capacity become more important.

Air conditioning and humidity are different problems

If you already have AC, reducing humidity can also improve overall comfort. But the right choice depends on the real problem: air that is too hot, too humid, or both.

The goal is not to buy another appliance by reflex. First identify the symptom: condensation, laundry that dries slowly, stale smell, clammy feeling, or a room that is simply too hot.
